How do I find a German word if I only know one form?
Learners often meet a German form in a text but do not know the dictionary entry behind it. The form may be conjugated, inflected, plural, or part of a short phrase.
Solution in the app
- Open Browse from the bottom navigation or from this FAQ link on your phone.
- Enter the form or phrase in the search field at the bottom.
- Check that the search language is set to German if the text you entered is German.
- Open the matching word entry to see forms, translations, grammar information and examples.
Good to know
- You can also use the system Share menu from another app. When the app is selected from the share sheet, it opens in Browse mode with the shared text, so copy and paste is not required.
- If results look too narrow, check whether filter chips are active below the toolbar.
